Biomedical Informatics · Data Science · AI

I'm a graduate student in Biomedical Informatics at the University of Utah, where my work sits at the intersection of machine learning and genomics. My research has focused on training AI models for high-precision tumor variant calling and building GPU-accelerated bioinformatics pipelines for precision oncology. Before that, I studied biology at Utah Tech University, taught a lab course for a year, and tutored for two — experiences that continue to shape how I think about communicating complex ideas. Outside of research, I make art.

Monarch Butterfly Sightings

Each year, monarch butterflies make one of the longest migrations in the insect world — traveling thousands of miles between their overwintering grounds in central Mexico and their summer breeding range across North America. This chart overlays weekly temperature data with reported monarch sightings across four representative years, letting you watch the migration unfold week by week and see how shifting temperatures track with the butterflies' movement north in spring and south in fall.
